Wake Up To The Reality Of Our World

I know we are always being told about the importance of positive thinking, but there are times that our own existence depends not so much on being positive, but looking at the reality of our countries' direction and coming to terms with it, instead of pretending it's a Boogie Man in a closet that will just disappear if we pretend it's not there.

I'm perplexed that there are so many people out there who continue to live in self-denial, believing that all is good and well in the U.S. economy, but rising fuel prices, the housing melt-down, trade deficits and the printing of money with nothing to back it up is putting us deeper and deeper into a recession. We are in a recession and personally I don't give a shit about the various economic indicators used to keep people believing we're hitting a rough patch, but not to worry, that the pavement will smooth out a mile or two ahead. My gas bill and food bill along are enough of an indicator to know that our present situation is more like being stuck in a giant pot hole and the tow truck isn't anywhere around. We are manipulated by the government and the multi-national corporations who own the media, but as long as we have our T.V. and beer everything is A-O.K.

We are getting to the point where the standard of living for the majority of the poor and middle class is going to begin to rival that of the poor in China and other developing counties. It's just a matter of time, but for too many people, what's more important is buying a bigger plasma T.V.

What people should be doing is opening their ears and eyes and making the conscious effort to seek out information individually, other than from the same tired media sources who spoon feed us the vapid pronouncements that keep us dumb and dumber and most important doing something with it to change our country for the better.

Open your eyes people before it's too late.

Or maybe it already is.

Chronic Illness

I was reading somewhere that 1 out of 3 people deals with chronic pain or a chronic illness. I thought it was high, but when I really started looking around at the people around me, I found that 1 out of 3 is actually a pretty accurate number. Everybody I know seems to be in pain, on multiple medications or has Cancer. It's almost abnormal not to have one of these three problems.

I personally can handle being ill if it lasts a day or two, but when it never goes away that is something that is very difficult to deal with. I can't help wondering what the point is when people have to deal with long term suffering. What are we supposed to learn? If there is a lesson involved can it be taught in a way where people don't have to suffer? I believe in God and I believe that he has a plan for everyone's life. What I don't understand is how the world can become a better place when 1/3 of the population is sick?

It seems like the last eighteen months life has been something to get through instead of experience. I have found myself kind of just dropping out of life. I talk to people on the phone occasionally, but don't have the energy to go out and do anything because it's always filtered through being sick, which makes it difficult to squeeze any enjoyment out of anything. I would rather just stay home.

I remember that when I was younger I would rather be dead then home on a Friday or Saturday night. Now, I'm in bed by 9:30 or 10:00 on the weekends and 75% of the time or more, a big night out is going to El Pollo Loco for chicken and then coming home and reading or watching a movie. I know it would probably do me some good to just go out and do something, but I just can't muster the energy to do so.

I think I'm going to take a nap.
