Via de Leyva

Via de Leyva is a small little town located about five/six hours by bus from Bogota. You can see the entire town in a weekend. It reminds me a little bit of Santa Fe de Antioquia, which is another place we visited last year. The architecture is old, Spanish colonial. Only part of the town is paved, the rest is made of cobblestone.

There are some great places to eat and stay, but be prepared to pay some bucks as Via de Leyva is somewhat touristy.

If you enjoy photography, Via de Leyva is the place for you. Just be willing to get up early to do your shooting because the town's pretty crowded the rest of the day. The morning and later afternoon light is amazing and plays of beautifully with the buildings and cobblestone streets.

Via de Leyva should definitively be part of your travel itinerary if you decide to go to Colombia.

Below is a movie of Via de Leyva from images I shot when I was there.

Enjoy!
